Ibanez RG350DX Guitar Review
Ever wondered what the RG stands for in Ibanez RG series models? It means Rock Guitar, and that's exactly what Ibanez delivers. Ibanez makes some of the favorite guitars for those who want to play rock, metal and shred and need fast playability with a hard rock sound. Even better, Ibanez is able to provide all this at a reasonable price.
Like many of Ibanez' other models, the RG350DX features a basswood body and a three piece maple neck accented by a rosewood fingerboard. Ibanez uses this combination to provide a cutting hard rock sound with a solid low end and crisp treble that doesn't suffer from the heavy tone of mahogany which is used by other manufacturers attempting to create a metal sound. You'll find that the RG350DX is perfect for heavier riffs and shred solos but also stands up to creating thumping bass. Ibanez uses Infinity pickups so that The Guitar will sound great when played through the clean channel on your amp. Infinity provides five tones- the bridge and neck are perfect for heavy riffs and solos, while the middle position and the two and four handle clean sounds. While The Guitar is designed for hard rock, you can be equally successful playing funk, blues, and country making it a far more versatile guitar than others in the same price range.
Ibanez uses the fast Wizard II neck which has a thin D contour allowing extra control. There are twenty four jumbo frets to make screaming bends and fast legato runs possible for even novice players. Like Ibanez' other models, the RG350DX has an Edge III floating tremolo bridge, the newest in the Edge line. The Edge III has low profile tuners and heavier saddles than on previous version of the Edge tremolo. Ibanez is well known for innovations in creating tremolos, and the Edge line is their top of the industry offering. The Edge III that is included with the Ibanez RG350DX has a great feature that makes the guitar more durable- you don't have to cut off the ball ends of the strings when you need to change out strings on the RG350DX. The result is that it is faster and easier to change strings and the strings stay in the saddle when you bend or aggressively use the tremolo.
